Migrating a brown field infrastructure with stateless and stateful applications to self-healing containers is a challenging project. Kubernetes provides solid repeatable building blocks to unify the lifecycle of those applications. Together with container-aware monitoring and continuous delivery pipelines the gap between high requirements for agility and performance can be closed - without sacrificing availability and security. In this talk we will show how we helped a traffic-intensive marketing data platform with its migration to the Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes. The project follows the concept of shared responsibility. This includes leveraging on managed services like central logging and cloud-databases to help the migration team focus primarily on their applications.
